<img title=' These X-rays provide a glimpse of some amazing incidents perhaps better left to the imagination ... A New Hampshire toddler is in recovery after a freak fall caused a pencil to pierce her eye and become lodged in her brain. Olivia Smith, 20 months, was coloring at her New Boston home on Jan. 6 when she lost her balance and jammed a colored pencil into her right eye. The impaled tot was brought to a local hospital and then flown to Boston Children's Hospital, where X-rays showed more than four inches of the pencil's shaft stuck in her brain, from her right eye to the back of her skull. Miraculously, it missed nearly every major artery and nerve along its path, according to Dr. Darren Orbach, a neurointerventional radiologist at the hospital who treated the tot. Yasser Lopez, 16, was on a fishing trip with friends June 7 when the spear gun they had brought along accidentally went off, shooting the 3-foot-spear through the teen's skull, according to Miami's WSVN 7 News. The Orland Park, Ill. man accidentally propelled a 3.5-inch nail into his brain with a nail gun, but only found out when he went to the hospital the next day complaining of nausea. Doctors removed the nail surgerically.
